A mobile service program aimed at resolving land issues in the Batticaloa District was held recently at the Batticaloa District Secretariat, with the participation of the Land Commissioner General.

Political representatives of the Batticaloa District, officials from the Land Commissioner General's Department, the Provincial Land Commissioner, and officials representing all Divisional Secretariats in the Batticaloa District participated in this event.

Welcome and Orientation Workshop for Newly Appointed Management Service Officers

A three-day workshop to welcome and orient newly appointed Management Service Officers to the Land Commissioner General's Department, while guiding them toward delivering quality public service, commenced last Wednesday

On the first day, the official welcome ceremony for the newly appointed Management Service Officers was held with the participation of the Land Commissioner General.

On the second day, a special training session titled "How Can I Become an Asset?" was successfully conducted at the Department Auditorium. The session was facilitated by Mrs. Pradeepa Serasinghe, a retired Special Grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service. During the programme, extensive discussions focused on developing the attitudes and professionalism of the newly recruited officers, emphasizing the importance of serving the public with dedication, efficiency, and effectiveness while upholding the values of the public service.

On the final day of the three-day training programme, participants are scheduled to receive an introductory session on the e-Slims system at the Ratmalana Information Centre premises.

Under the guidance of the Land Commissioner General, a special lecture on attitude development was successfully conducted for the officers of the Land Commissioner General's Department. The session was facilitated by Mr. Lalith Sumanasiri, who served as the resource person.

The program was attended by all officers and staff officers of the Land Commissioner General's Department and the staff officers of the Ministry of Lands and the Land Title Settlement Department.

The Land Commissioner General's Department extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Lalith Sumanasiri for his valuable contribution as the resource person. His insightful lecture, aimed at strengthening efficiency, fostering positive attitudes, and reinforcing professional values in the public service, was highly appreciated by all participants.

A mobile service programme to address land related issues in the Hambantota District was recently held at the Hambantota District Secretariat under the patronage of the Hon. Deputy Minister of Lands and Irrigation, Mr. Aravinda Senarath Vitharana, with the participation of the Land Commissioner General.

The programme brought together officials from the Land Commissioner General's Department, the Provincial Land Commissioner's Office, the Inter-Provincial Land Commissioner's Office, and representatives from all Divisional Secretariats in the Hambantota District to facilitate the resolution of land related matters and provide services to the public.

In line with Dengue Prevention Week, a special cleaning and inspection programme was recently conducted at the Mihikatha Medura premises with the participation of staff officers, subject officers, and cleaning personnel representing the three institutions operating within the premises: the Land Commissioner General's Department, the Land Title Settlement Department, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation (Lands Section).

The programme focused on monitoring and improving the cleanliness of the office premises and surrounding areas to support dengue prevention efforts and to raise awareness among officials on identifying and eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites, thereby promoting a clean, safe, and healthy working environment.

A three-day mobile service was conducted on June 17, 18, and 19 under the coordination of the Polonnaruwa District Secretariat and the guidance of the Land Commissioner General’s Department. The program was organized to address long-standing land lease issues, discuss outstanding lease payment arrears with lessees, and resolve various land-related matters in collaboration with all Divisional Secretaries and relevant political authorities in the Polonnaruwa District. The initiative provided an opportunity to settle many longstanding land lease concerns and raise awareness among lessees with outstanding arrears through direct discussions and guidance.

Mobile Service Program to Expedite Tsunami Grant Preparation in Northern Province

Under the guidance of the Land Commissioner General, the Research and Development Division of the Department successfully carried out a three-day mobile service program on May 19, 20 and 21, 2026, aimed at accelerating the preparation of Tsunami grants in the Northern Province.

The initiative was centered in the Maritimepattu and Vadamarachchi East Divisional Secretariat divisions, covering the Mullaitivu and Jaffna districts. The program was launched to streamline the grant preparation process and assist long-pending beneficiaries.

The successful implementation of the program was made possible through the active support and collaboration of the Land Commissioner-Northern Province and his staff, together with the Divisional Secretaries and officers attached to the Maritimepattu and Vadamarachchi East Divisional Secretariats.

During the program, the Department successfully collected nearly 700 eligible applications for the preparation of Tsunami grants. This initiative marks a significant step toward facilitating the issuance of deeds to beneficiaries who, due to various circumstances, have remained without formal ownership documents for more than two decades after the devastating tsunami.

The Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebration organized by the Welfare Society of the Land Commissioner General’s Department was recently held in a grand and festive manner at the Department premises, with the participation of officers and staff.

The event aimed to promote unity, cooperation, and Sri Lankan cultural values among employees. It featured traditional New Year games, cultural performances, and entertainment activities, creating a joyful atmosphere for all participants while strengthening friendship among staff.

Training Program on Long-Term Lease Calculation

A training program on long-term lease calculation was successfully held on April 30, 2026, for Divisional Secretaries, Assistant Divisional Secretaries, Land Officers, Colonization Officers, and Subject Officers of the North Central Province.The program was conducted by the North Central Provincial Land Commissioner's Department, with the professional resource contribution of the Land Commissioner General's Department, and with the objective of introducing a standardized and uniform methodology for calculating complex lease payments, ensuring consistency across the administrative framework.

Land Commissioner General’s Department Conducts New Year Donation Program

The Land Commissioner General’s Department successfully conducted a special donation program on April 10, 2026, in line with the Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebrations.

Under this initiative, 23 packs containing dry rations and other essential items were distributed among the staff engaged in cleaning services within the department. The program was made possible through voluntary financial contributions from the department’s officers, reflecting a strong sense of unity and social responsibility.
